Its in the Bali Barat National Park on the north west coast.
The place to stay would be Pemuteran.
Certainly more of a trek to get there but if its underwater stuff you are interested in it's the best.
There is a coral regeneration program going on there using low voltage cables discharging into the water......google it.
I agree that it would be best to travel south the day before departure to get a place for the night near the airport.
For travel, just negotiate with local drivers.
