I'm assuming you have your own transport. Penglipuran is the village you may be thinking of where they grow bamboo for manufacturing. It is about an hours drive N.E. of Ubud. So you'd want to venture there first. It is worth the visit to see the village and you can get a glimpse of the bamboo. Google "Penglipuran" for info. If you do go to the village you'd probably want to go to lunch at Bridges (highly recommended) next and it is slightly out of the main centre of Ubud. Then to the monkey forest which is at the bottom of Monkey Forest Road. Then a leisurely stroll up the hill looking at shops etc. including "afternoon tea". There is a complex system of one way streets in Ubud and parking can be difficult for you or your driver although no probs at the monkey forest or Bridges. Good luck, have fun.
