I've never had this problem personally but from reading this and other Bali forums I believe you will not be allowed to board an aircraft if you don't possess an onward/return ticket. Also only 30 day visas at VOA. Longer visas need to be arranged at Indonesian embassy in Aust or your own country prior to departure for Bali although I believe it is possible to extend your 30 day visa when there. Would pay to contact Indo embassy and enquire.
