in January 2012 and was told to stay away from any tropical climates for at least 6 months until it was out of my system. It took me that long to feel good again. Needless to say i returned 6 months later and have been back several times. I always think of the locals who get it and have to live there permanently. Last year here in Australia I got Ross River Virus and found that to be worse than dengue as it can recur whenever it feels like it. Take precautions and be sensible but enjoy.
