If you are planning to do this think hard. You need to live in Bali to keep a close eye on everything. Look at leasing a Villa and sub letting to see if it is worth the hassle. You need to have the right visa/PMA, licence and pay tax. You need to be able to supervise the building of your villa and that cannot be done from Australia. I have been thinking of building a villa in Bali but I don't see the value. I have built & run Kost, I think better value for money. I bring most of the tools, lights and fittings from Australia, anything goes wrong just take back to bunnings. Lately Immigration have been checking visa of people renting villas in Bali, bit of crack down on illegal villas also.
