Last night Team 4, comprising four of the youngest members ( all in their 20's), hosted their MKR. They were full of smugness and swagger cos they thought they had it won!
And yes, they did put a lot of thought into it. They chose the Boardwalk as their venue, and even organised to have two tables available in case of rain( which was a wise move as it bucketed down)!
Of course they got top points for meal, service and menu, could not fault a single thing there, however, as the Boardwalk is a favourite of everyone, they lost points for taking the safe option ( if it was only about meal, service and location we would have chosen La Lucciola!)
At one stage the power went out and one of the guests badly stubbed his toe on a palm tree on the way to the toilet, not Team 4's fault you may say....but we felt we could only score them with occ health and safety in mind!
At the end of the night, team leaders read out the critique and scores for each team and scores were tallied. Now if you've ever watched MKR on channel 7 and thought that some of the teams can get a bit b*#*chy, then you have some idea as to how these critiques were received!
It came down to one solitary point with Team 3 ( HQ) winning over team 4. Of course Team 4 showed their immaturity by protesting with much vitriol!
Our own team ( no.2 Babi Guling) came an unbelievable last, we put this down to the extremely low score given to us by team 4 ( those young ones are so soft, they marked us down because they felt poppies1 was the A#*# end of the world....or at least Bali) we actually felt it was more to do with the tall Poppy Syndrome ....pun intended!
If anyone is going to Bali in a big group, we thoroughly recommend playing MKR Bali, we had a ball, all of the places we went to were more than happy to become involved, the staff in particular wanted to know the scores etc!
Now that it is over tho, we are more than happy to get back to our favourites eg Tom Yum, Basil Leaves and Bamboo Corner!
