This gives I/D sometimes required for changing cash etc and leaves your important documentation safe.
These warnings are important for all and should not be written off as just "local people trying to make a living" as some on this forum would have you believe (stupid comments when one is commenting on scammers and thieves).
This is not "worry wart" behaviour but is an important part of the forum's function.
These things DO happen.
