Weather partly cloudy and rate still hovering around 9,700.
Had a good look about again yesterday, collecting bits and pieces for a room upgrade at home.
Lunched at Souvlaki in Gang Ronta between Poppies one and two.
This is a small (obviously greek) place and always attracts plenty of returning customers.
Highly recommended.
Early evening I was invited to a celebration at the "new" Tom Yum.
This was to allow around 30 locals who work for a group of Villas to experience different food experiences and a few beers along the way.
Always interesting to see the less experienced struggle with concept and operation of knife and fork, and this causes much merriment among others who have had some experience in this.
Tom Yum (without Yulius and Putu)is a much nicer venue in terms of facility.
P & K have done a good job of upgrading and work hard on the menu for improvements too.
Of course Yulius smile is missing and some may find the food not as appealing as Putus curries etc but Tom Yum is still worth a visit, even if only to compare.
Later in the evening it was off to Indies in Gg Bedugul to support a new venture there.
Very small, but nicely modernised and a good local menu.
Tucked away a bit and I am encouraging a sign out on Legian Street, but time will tell.
I don't see them making a mint, but wish them the best of luck.
The beach was quiet this morning for a late walk (around 8am)
There were crews cleaning up the area outside where the beach bars are, all dressed in Coca Cola "Keep Bali Beaches Clean" tees.
They were supported by a newish large front end loader which also has grooming capabilities.
The beach was looking really good along the Kuta strip.
I sometimes think that these efforts are largely unrecognised by tourists, some of whom would not even know that these exercises exist.
Back to the beach later to help lighten the Bintang or San Mig load for the beach boys.
Kuta wonderful Kuta!
