Another brilliant day in "Bali Central" yesterday.
After a 10 k walk, taking in Jalan Mataram and the river route to Jl. Nakula, and then back south through to Bunut Sari and then out to Legian Street at Patih Jelantik.
South past the memorial and the terrible nightclubs, looking out for pools of blood and remains of the vomit tsunami, but at 6.30am all is clean and quiet along this 100 meter strip.
I noticed a new looking beer brewery place opposite Sky Garden, offering wheat beers and others of a brand that I am not familiar with.
I may check it out during early evening, before armegedon starts.
The day was spent over in Berewa (see other post)with a stop at Geneva on the way.
I only go into Geneva to go to the derelect top floor, which used to be a restaurant but is now an abandoned untidy area for old stock etc.
The panaramic view from the top of Geneva is one of the best around and it's a shame the restaurant is still not running, if only for that reason.
Coming back from Tom Ka, I stopped at a timber yard to get pricing on some decking timber.....it's quite expensive.
20cm wide, 2cm thick and 4 meters long is 275,000 a piece, so it will be around Rp6,000,000 for project materials.
Decent quality though.
Last night was another fabulous local Kuta experience.
I have constructed a fixed wall bench (Thanks Mr Bunnings)in the street to replace a bench that got broken.
We christened the seat last night with quiet guitar strumming, a couple of Bintangs for the locals and a Bombay Saphire with tonic and ice for Moi.
Air still enough not to flicker a candle, ladies passing laden with ceremony offerings balanced on heads, local dogs curled up at ones feet.....yes, this is the Kuta that I keep coming back for.
After the "seat blessing ceremony" I tried a renovated "Swell" restaurant in Poppies 1 for dinner.
The revamp is very nice and is in keeping with a general upgrade of the whole area.
Food was good too.
Rain overnight and high thin clouds this morning.
I look forward to the delights that our Kuta can throw at us today.
