mean if air control wont give you permission to fly around it then it is impossible to fly over it? could would imagine that it would not be preferable to try to go over it, if only for fuel reasons, but storms in general would have a ceiling to them so in theory you should be able to go over them, one of my questions is why was there no storm warnings given in relation to this particular storm surely air control has good enough radar to see these things develop and they were only 40 mins into the flight and why (I believe0 are pilots in Indonesia required to do their own weather checks before take off instead of being given weather warnings etc by air control.
