I've never posted in a forum type setting before despite reading posts that are of an interest to me. I guess I didn't account for people who don't have anything better to do with their time than to criticize others.

I'm not easily offended at all - quite the opposite actually and can easily laugh at myself but I just thought that the initial response was entirely uncalled for and extremely immature too but I guess you leave yourself open to such people when posting in a public forum as you pointed out.

I'm still posting so that's a good sign... :)
