I leave 10,000rp under the pillow each day (on the first day I leave a note to explain)- which is only about a AU $1 and whoever cleans that day gets the tip. And at the end of my stay I leave any toiletries loose change etc I don't want to take home and leave a note saying it's for the cleaner/s. I also always tip room service and housekeeping if I have something delivered to my room. And leave a small tip for breakfast staff each day. All in all it is a small amount in the scheme of things and I have always received good service. Tips are not just about the amount of money given but confirmation that you appreciate the customer service. I believe that if I can afford an overseas holiday then I can afford to tip.
