Funny you should mention that... We have somewhere in the vicinity of 150 pictures of Bali squirrels taken last week during our latest trip.
Those little suckers move FAST... But the new camera didn't struggle at all with the speed. If you're into adjusting your ISO frequently though, then I won't talk you out of a DSLR :) I'll also mention that our final decision was in no way price related.
The zoom on our camera is a little scary, a bit papparazzi-esque with the detail it captures from a distance. My husband was taking pictures of me and the kids in the pool from a second storey balcony more than 30 metres away, and we had no idea.
All I can say is having just been through all of this (and having owned a DSLR previously) it's worth road-testing them and reading the reviews before you lay down that kind of cash.
