Arrived in beautiful Amed just after lunch yesterday from Sanur with the ever amiable Adi from SBVs at the wheel.

Staying at Bali Bhuana Beach Cottages on the beach and I mean that literally. Beautiful little hotel with lush gardens and a restaurant overlooking the sea. The rooms are spacious and well set up. Also squeaky clean and what a comfy bed. I did not want to get our when the birds...and chickens, a lot of chickens, woke us this morning. What a sunrise over the sea! We did have a little mouse in the bathroom garden but managed to lure him into the rubbish bin and set him free.

Last night we had dinner at Warung Pantai Indah. Fresh Mackeral straight from the boat to the BBQ to our table. We order earlier in the day here and they always say they will have mackeral when the boats come in at 7.00. They always do come in at 7.00 right in front of the cafe and bowl after bowl of Mackeral are brought ashore. Why was I told Mackeral was a poor eating fish etc etc when I was a kid?

On the way home the local men were dressing the street up in it's party best ready for Galungan, tomorrow. With this in mind, unlike the chickens and birds the pigs are quiet... scared...very scared!
