Wi- Fi question

I am taking my iPad ( Wi Fi only ) to Bali this weekend . Our villa has free Wi Fi throughout. Am I able to access my emails through Big Pond as easily as I do at home by just going into my mailbox on the iPad, or do I have to access any emails through the Big Pond website?
Sorry, I am not exceptionally tech savvy, and I was hoping that someone could assist!
