State-owned seaport company PT ASDP has been forced to temporarily cease its ferry services between Padangbai Port in Bali and Lembar Port in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), due to dangerously high waves since Sunday night.
The last ferry from Padangbai Port departed at 3 a.m. on Monday morning. PT ASDP Padangbai is still awaiting the latest weather forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
This temporary stoppage caused a 5 kilometer tailback of vehicles, especially trucks, intending to cross from Bali to Lombok, Antara news agency reported.
BMKG Denpasar reported on Monday that the waves in several areas off Bali reached a height of between 2.5 and 3 meters.
The waves off Kuta reached 3 meters, Nusa Dua Beach 3 meters and Tanah Lot and Sanur Beach 2.5 meters, respectively, according to the BMKG Denpasar report."
