We have stayed at Mara River twice, the second time for 2 nights, which gave us a more relaxed stay including time for a swim in the infinity pool while the elephant treks were on. The swim up pool bar will give you some carrots to through at the tourists LOL
I have used Agoda and Wotif to book, the latter being a little cheaper.
Make sure you decide what room really suits you as they differ in price. The upstairs rooms are the best and provide the best ambience of an evening sitting on the balcony listening to the lions roar. Sorry I can't remember which room is which Twiga/Swala (one being upstairs the other downstairs). They are interconnecting for families too.
In the quieter seasons such as June when we go, the evening dinner menu is quite limiting. If nothing takes your fancy, then ask for the lunch menu which has everything.
Don't forget the evening entertainment in the lobby - we've have snakes and eagles for photo opportunities.
Can't wait to be back in June for our third stay to introduce some Bali virgins :)
