I much prefer the beachfront part of northern Legian these days than Tuban or Kuta. It's much quieter during the day, the beach is beautiful, lovely restaurants and its only a taxi ride away from either Kuta or Seminyak. If you'd like to try somewhere different why not try a few days in a different area and then the remainder in your favourite area. I recently stayed a week at the Niksoma and then a week in Kuta and there was no comparison, having been a long term Kuta/Tuban fan I'll never stay there again, way too much traffic and noise for me these days.
