Day 4.
Last meal in Ubud was at Ibu Rai, it was just beautiful.
Grilled king prawns, expresso martini and a delicious chocolate mousse for dessert. Bill came to about 180k.
Head back to the hotel as I had booked a 30min head/neck massage at the Komaneka spa for 8pm. They said they would come to my room at get me. 8.15pm...8.30pm... no knock at the door and I start to fall asleep. Woken at 9.15pm by my bedside phone ringing..
'Halllo miss anna, you have massage at spa? When you massage? Tomorrow?'..'Was 8pm tonight'. They continuously apologised and tried to reschedule but I really didn't mind! Saved myself 120k and I was quite tired anyway, they were extremely sorry though!
Who's genius idea was it to cancel a transfer to Kuta, provided by Komaneka hotel for 225k, and book a 50k trip in a shuttle bus? -_-
It was meant to arrive at 12pm to take me to Kuta after 4 wonderful days in Ubud. Arrives, after many phone calls by reception at 1pm.
After we get 15 minutes out of Ubud, the driver tells me we will be stopping at Sanur first, then the airport, then Kuta last. I really should have known that for 50k this shuttle bus was going to be horrible. I ended up getting off at Sanur and getting a taxi to Kuta.
Arrive at Satriya Cottages to be told I have been upgraded from a standard room to cottage. The cottage is nice, amazing aircon, bathroom still feels like something out of a SAW movie, but so far, for the price per night, I cannot complain. Nor can I compare it at all to Komaneka Rasa Sayang which is 3x the price.
The pool is closed for the day due to a wedding. Head up to my favourite restaurant, Mozzarella on Jl. Padma for dinner.
Portebella mushroom entree, as good as ever, 45k
Honey chicken wings w/ blue cheese sauce entree, yummo, 45k.
Doesn't take much for me to feel full, these entrees and two cocktails (buy one get one free, 85k for one). All taxes are included in the price here, and a great first meal for my first night in Kuta.
Day 5.
Again I wake up at stupid-o-clock and nothing is open for coffee except McCafe so I head in and have coffee and use wi-fi. Coffee is good, better than McCafe back in Aus.
Breakfast at the satriya is basic, but good. Eggs anyway, toast, indonesian options, juice, cereal etc. Does the job :)
Head up to Legian to Ani's Leather to find out about getting a pair of leather boots remade (have the boots with me). Pick a gorgeous brown leather and arrange to have a clutch plus knee high boots made for $105AU. They will be ready saturday so I will give an update.
Lunch at 90 Degrees, which is the restaurant attached to Satriya Cottages. 53k, no tax, and very yummy. Decent serving size too.
Despite the weather, the pool and swim-up bar is still enticing. Drinks at the pool bar are very cheap here and no tax on top like most places. Small bintang is 20k, large 30k. Cocktails about 50k.
Day 6.
Weather is horrible again, heavy rain. Still, an umbrella does the trick. Head up to Matahari and also walk around the new Beachwalk complex which was still in construction last Feb. Very nice open-plaza, food places seem quite expensive though. Nice to look around though, especially in this weather. Lunch at Bali Agung on Poppies 1. Old family favourite.
Iced coffee, aqua, garlic bread and spaghetti bolognaise: 70k. No complaints :)
Parents arrive on Sunday and we will be staying at Kuta Seaview. My 21st on Monday and am trying to find a place to book for dinner.
Thinking either Sarong or Mama San which pops up a lot on the forum. Sarong also has excellent TA reviews. Will be also trying Bamboo Shoots cooking class in Sanur, can anyone tell me if this is a full day thing?
Weather is clearing up, think I can hear the swim-up-bar calling me.
Bye for now :)
