The cook (Sri) is from Tarakan which is near the Malaysian border thus her cooking is influenced by Malaysian cuisine so I wouldn't say it is has a distinct Kalimantan flavour. Sri was a lovely host and I was surprised to see her (the cook) wearing mini jean shorts!
I visited the cafe last year with my Indonesian friend who was visiting from Kalimantan. (Pontianak) My friend is also quite an established cook. We were the only ones that were at the restaurant that quite night and it still took nearly an hour or more for our meal to be served.
I have had extensive experience with cuisine from Kalimantan over the years and I thought the food at Cafe Jadi was reasonable however I wouldn't rave over it. It was better than average but I'm not in a hurry to return. As I said, we were the only ones there on the night. I always wondered how long it would have taken to have our meal if the place was crowded.
