Even when the onboard videos are working, it's never reliable. Hit and miss. Several times I've flown the whole plane was given onboard entertainment for free as it kept dropping in and out. Other times it's fine, but at least with a tablet PC, I mean C64, you can watch exactly what you want, when you want, and pause it when you need to.
