' Day 2 Ubud '
English breakfast real leaf tea( none of that tea bag muck:) starts our day , plus the raspberry juice shot, not sure if that's all a myth but running with it anyway. Daughter off to her 90 minute yoga class, free and set in a purpose built yoga room , bifold doors overlooking the rice fields, she's a happy camper. I spend the time doing some gentle laps in the pool , solo, except for the lovely pool attendant waiting on me with the beautiful facial sprays, lotions , cool towels, must stop pinching myself !

First breakfast at the Chedi club, always been a fan of the better buffet type offerings, my favourites being The Sofitel in Melb and Shangri La KL , sorry guys Chedi wins.

Not a buffet in sight , just our table, yes they remembered we loved the one we had last night , with a menu with too many choices all so appealing. We chose one of the five different juice blends, exquisitely presented fruit selections with those amazingly tiny Balinese limes to sprinkle over. Daughter had Bircher muesli , omelette , I had two small but perfect banana pancakes. The bakery basket , all made in house

had light rye toasts , and about 5 different pastries, muffins, none of which we could try, maybe tomorrow. The conserves are worth a mention here also , 3 today, watermelon , banana ginger and a wicked orange, mandarin cinnamon , too good!!!

My daughter a coffee expert pronounced her coffee excellent.

Perfectly timed ,just as we finish , like magic , gorgeous Komang appears in his softly spoken gentle voice asking us how he can plan our day, daughter and I have yet another how good is this looks.

We ask him to book us into Venezia day spa in Ubud for a manicure pedicure treatment for us both. Hats off to Chedi, whilst they have an impressive day spa , at no time are we pressured to use it, the prices are quite high as one would expect from a place such as this and beyond my budget .

Driver takes us to Venezia and we are very happy with our treatment and the care they took , I hadn't realised I had terrible cuticles before :) my girl spent an inordinate amount of time scraping and prodding and telling me I must take more care ho hum!!

I also caused a bit of a hoo ha here as they had no clue how to remove my shellac polish, they were almost not going to do it until I persuaded them to soak for 5 minutes in a bowl. The owner thanked me as she now may get more customers. Total cost for manicures and pedicures with polish was $28 , great value.

Driver collected us and en route back took us to Bintang supermarket for some cosmetics and the adapters I needed ( thanks TA advice )

We then felt a little hungry, can't believe how after that breakfast but it was around 2 pm so we asked the driver to drop us off at Kafe Balan Waru , had been here last August, simple little friendly spot. We had a ginger fizz, shared some spring rolls and tempura tofu with a killer tamarind dip. Cost $14

Back to Chedi for a pool afternoon.

Daughter managed an afternoon tea session , I decided cakes I didn't need ( Light and Easy on standby on my return )

She said the cakes were different from yesterday and all delicious !

I did manage however to attend the cocktail hour, tried the local Sav Blanc, named Two Hills I think , not bad.

Komang had booked us in tonight at Ibu Rai in town, had been there before, like the ambience it tonight was very oppressive, not a hint of a breeze. We shared chicken sate, mie goring a ,beer and a wine.total $24 ish. Apologies for my quoting in Australian dollars rather than Rupiah, two reasons I'm a bit numerically challenged plus its easier than typing all the zeros. For the first time so it seems the dollar has dropped below the 10 mark , only just , but for my intents and purposes I'm just doing the divide by 10 thing, hope its not annoying for those people liking exact figures.

Daughter felt like some live music so were heading towards the Shisha Bar, on our way we see Chi Foot Spa opposite football ground, well actually I saw the words air conditioned room first, was flagging and in we went. Had a relaxing 30 minute reflexology in coolness, haaaa , $12 , Oh my goodness we are smiling. Skip round to Shisha bar, well almost, had iced coffee , music wasn't to daughters taste so headed back to Ibu Rai for them to call our driver, normally the Chedi provide you with a mobile to call them but they were all in use that night, no drama.Komang escorted us back from our car to a softly lit room , chilled water by our bedsides , beds all looking just ready for a
beautiful night 2 sleep in Ubud.
