Thank again for your interest and good wishes. First a couple of questions to answer. I am about to updat the website which will take me a few weeks and I will develpo a facebook page mainly for photos.
When Janelle and I went back in that June, Misteri, Filo's favouite lady (apart from the cat) was not on the beach. We had known for some time that Misteri had diabetes and that her sight was deteriorating a little. However, it had taken a turn for the worst and she could no longer see well enough to work on the beach doing massage.
Made took us to where she lived. As soon as she could see me we ran toward each other and hugged for ages. Oh tears too. Shares in Kimberly Clark coming up!
We met her husband Rasim, whom I had not met before. A handsome, small man with gleaming white hair. Misteri had a bandage on her foot which immediatley concernd me. A quick investigation suggested a trip to the hospital so off we went. Fortunately the wound was only slightly infected and no gangrene. Good news!
Down the road to the paharmacy to purchase a glucometer and blood pressure machine. The pharmacist was great and organised a time to show them and her daughter how to use both machines. We paid for a year's supply of test strips and headed for the optician.
Great service and help again from the lovely woman in Kuta sqaure. We had already taken Misteri to the John Fawcett Foundation but she had no cataracts and laser surgery is not available in Bali. Drops assist and we helped her to continually get these and she was still using them. We ordered and paid for the glasses so over the road to Matahari to buy a new outfit for Papa's ceremony. New shoes too accommodate the sore toe. A lovley shopping day and two very tired people. Herself and Janelle.
Two days later we called in to check on how the machines were going. Misteri was concerned that the blood presseure machine did not work on Rasim so Janelle and I took our blood pressures and Made's too. Hmmm a little bit up! However the machine was fine. Took Rasim's. 212/150! We made him sit down immediately, put money into Misteri's hane and said to the daughter, 'Doctor, chepat, chepat before he goes poof!'
I called her the following day and Rasim was duitifully taking the little white pills. When they both arrived at the ceremony it was a wonderful reunion. Rasim was alive and Misteri looked wonderful in new glasses which made her see a little better and of course a lovely new top and shoes.
I go to see Misteri everytime I am in Bali or send stuff via Made. They had to move to Denpasar from Tuban which was sad but they are both well and looking after their grandchildren. Rasim stopped the pills. Got a tongue lashing from herself and hasn't stopped since.
