My fave time to go is late May/early June & I make a point of leaving before the Indonesian school hols start late June. Once was enough! It is mayhem around Kuta but a good reason to head for the hills &/or the north & explore a bit of rural Bali.

People of all ages go to Bali. In Kuta there are heaps of young surfers of all nationalities around Poppies 1 & 2 & along Jl Benesari. And oldsters, too. Heaps of night places close by.

The area around Jalan Padma in Legian is Aussieville - rarely hear a foreign accent there. A bit further north is Seminyak which used to be a mainly European enclave & it is still more cosmopolitan than elsewhere.

If you are a surfer then even staying out at Ulu Watu you will find surfers of all ages.

I guess some activities (eg quad bike riding) don't appeal much to wrinklies. At 34 you'd fit in with any group probably.

Interested to know why you are going to Bali for so long (being a sticky beak)?
