I have had my Bintangs spiked three times in Bali some years ago. The bottles and the glasses never left my hand or were left out of sight. All must have been prepared beforehand. Fortunately I am an extremely slow drinker, never drinking but one beer per meal. Thus I felt the strange taste and effect quite early. I barely managed to pay for the meal and get back to the hotel in a taxi. Down on the bed without undressing and woke up nearly 24 hours later with a magnificent dizziness and headache.
As I thought I knew both the staff and the owner very well I was very surprised that the spiking happened. When I spoke to the owner he became very aggressive. Needless to say I do not go to that place anymore. And when I much later spoke about the incident to one staff member, he just smiled but I could see from his eyes that it was a mean smile.
Sure, it could happen anywhere but three times in Bali is not a coincidence.
