flew aa from perth on the late flight which was even later due to late arrival from bali, noticed that the customs form has changed since last year as we always used to declare bringing in more than 10 million in rupes it is now 100 million so we used the breakfast bars as our something to declare to go through the red channel breezed through.
as we had arrived after midnight the taxi window was closed so started price negotiations sooner than we had thought! we got down from 150k to60k which was about right and off to amaris hotel legian.
nice clean hotel young friendly staff, dropped of bags and went in search of a bar, the only nearby open one was spiders bar[walk in -crawl out]stayed there until 3am off to bed and up at 7[bloody body clock!]
AS THE POOL IN THE HOTEL IS SHADED AND DOESNT GET SUN WE WALKED TO BEACH 5MINS AWAY DOWN AN ALLEY WAY AND CAME OUT BY MOZZERELLAS ON THE BEACH [THERE ARE NOW 3 RESTOS]

rate during our stay was between 9635 and 9800
we ate at mozzerellas twice- they really have a great combination of varied menu/good prices/great staff and location

the road alond the beach from hard rock to melasti has been resurfaced as had legian st from melasti to bemo corner with no parking on legian st which makes traffic flow a bit better
as posted before jl padma is being upgraded now including footpaths[total mess at the moment]
we thought legian area was a lot quieter than normal and the locals we spoke to agreed the temperature was cooler
we also did bike baik tour again didnt enjoy it as much as 2 years ago no visit to the school so had to leave gifts with wayan also the route had changed and was rougher,wayan must be doing well as it is tables and chairs now and not floor squatting!
the final thing we noticed was the changes[for the next 5 years] around the airport with a drop off point and a long walk, albeit under cover, to the departure hall and the porters now want 10k per bag[from the old 5k] or am i just a tight arse? cheers dave
