Bali Safari and Marine Bus - Transport

Was after some advice on those that have traveled to the Bali Safari and Marine Park.

What is the best way to get there - is it worth taking the free shuttle bus or should we take a taxi?

If we take a taxi does anyone know the cost from Kuta and also if it is easy to get a taxi back to Kuta.
