There is no way to distinguish being a first timer. Anyone goes to a new place they walk around wide eyes taking everything in, nothing will 'prepare' you for bali to the extent that you could act as though you had been before and you knew it all.
Whereas us long times, we walk up and down streets and don't need to look at every shop, or we're not surprised by everything - to the trained eye - those that stand in the streets touting for business everyday it must be so so obvious.
