my first trip was 83 and even back then still in bali they were touching my skin,Can't quite remember where I was though, think it was somewhere up near the hot springs.
Yep I remember peanuts and the sand bar and midnight oil, as well as the skulling comps at casablancas, oh and the PUB (I still have my original t-shirt) lol
I also remember watching a real cock fight after a meal one night, I know it was on legian st but can't remember the name of the place?
I remember catching a horse and cart back to Padma St from casablanca's one night, and they would drop you off at the top of the street, and you would walk the rest of the way, I was staying at the Mandira,so had to walk the length of Padma St with no street lights and heaps of dogs chasing me and then the heavens opening up,wading up to my knees in water! No such things as Taksis back then!
The only handbags you bought back then were either made from brown leather or woven, most things for sale were not of a western influence apart from t-shirts and cassettes.
aaahhhhhh the memories.....I could go on and on and on, yes I too still get that same magical feeling flying in and as soon as I walk through the airport door I sigh a relief of ahhhhh home again(well I look at Bali as my second home)
