of 90 mins is fine if they are offering you a "fly through" deal (basically would mean they transfer your luggage and you go straight to the departure lounge) and with this option they will put you on the next possible flight if our first flight is too late for your connection.
But if it is YOU making two seperate flight bookings I would take the longer connection time as if your first flight is late YOU will have to buy a new flight back to Sydney from K/L.
