Hi there. Stayed at Pondak Jenggala in Jan. Only $30 a night for cold water/fan. Lovely pool, great breakfast, also good for other meals. Family owned they speak English and also hire cheap scooters. They have hot water & air con for $50.
Very new and only a lane way to the beach. Living in Darwin I found I did not need the air con as used to the hot weather.
Preferred the quieter area, (Jutabaru Bay??? Spelling) rather than be hassled by the daily intake of day trippers onto Mushroom Bay. The quieter area is more traditional and the warungs/restaurants are more traditional. No shops and no sellers. heaven!!!
Doesn't take much effort to cruise around on a scooter to the touristy area if you wish to.
Travelled on my own, felt safe, even when I did not have a torch to walk up the lane ways from fishing village area to the Pondak.
