I rembember going to the village across the lake too!
It was our first trip overseas, and we stayed at The Kuta Seaview. Our friends, who had travelled previously, were horrified that there were no fridges in the rooms!
From memory, the exchange rate was 750 rupiah, and we lived like Kings for 2 weeks.
Our favourite bar was the Suci Bar, and we ate crayfish at Poppies nearly every night.
We ordered Blue Lagoons to drink, and they came out in massive pots!
The boys went in to Denpasar and with the help of the police providing the answers, got motor bike licences. They went sent out on the streets of Denpasar, and if they came back in one piece, it was deemed that they passed.
We went on massive drive looking for Ulawatu, and when dark came, one bike had no headlight, so he had to ride behind the other 2 bikes to see where he was going!
I'm so glad we got to see the "old" Bali. We have been 28 times since, but nothing beats that first trip.
