I rarely use the services of a porter. Mainly because, a regular visitor to bali knows exactly where to go and what to do. Some porters will want a ridiculous amount of money for walking 1 bag from the luggage carousel to the exit of the airport, which is a distance of no more than 15 metres. For this short walk through scanners and to the exit, I feel 10 000rp per large bag is fair. Some porters will abruptly tell you that this is not enough and that they want more. Just tell them that is all the rp you have, take your bag and walk away. Having said that, Different travellers have different situations and requirements, if your bags are heavy and you require the porter to handle your bag longer distances and the porter is providing you with a service that would be difficult for you to do yourself. Then a slightly higher payment may be justified.
