translates to Been Back A While so here goes.
Flew with Garuda on 7th June from Perth and enjoyed every minute of it. After flying with AirAsia the last couple of times it was lovely to have full service again. The main reason for this holiday was a family wedding in Nusa Dua at the Conrad hotel.
Our accommodation was Rumah Santai Villas on Padma Utara. What a fantastic place to stay. They are not private villas as such, but 7 villas built around a small swimming pool. We did see and speak to a few people staying at the villas but mostly had the pool to ourselves. This was the first time we'd had an outdoor bathroom (2 showers, 1 huge bathtub & toilet) and it took a little getting used to. Even though the walls were very high, I was continuously scanning the wall tops as I went about my business, if you know what I mean. The only peeping tom was a cat who decided our villa wall was a great short cut to where he needed to go. We had the deluxe villa which also had a huge 4 poster bed, so very much a novelty. You can order meals from a menu which come La Monde restaurant at the front of the villa, had lunch by the pool several times and pleased with our choices. The owner is in the process of having a little coffee shop built right beside the villa for guests, should be ready Sept I think.
We found ourselves having breakfast every morning across the road at Pavone restaurant. OMG, the breaky menu was to die for, not cheap by Bali standard (most mornings approx $30 aud for hubby, myself and 12yr old son) but well worth it. Only regret was we didn't get there for dinner, will definetly give it a try next time.
Two days before the wedding we all went on a Bali Hai Dinner Cruise which was a great way to get to meet other wedding guests. The night after that was the Hen's and Buck's nights. The girls ended up at Maxwells or Mixwells which is a dragshow/gay bar in Seminyak. A great night was had by all, I left at a very tame 11pm with the mother of the bride but the others finished up at 5.30am at the Bounty. The wedding in the Infinity Chapel at the Conrad was absolutely amazing. What a beautiful wedding and the reception was excellent. We left our son in the hands of a capable young lady who was recommended by a fellow forumite and who I'd met on my previous trip in March. Nothing was too much bother for her and she was happy to take our son out and keep him entertained while we were at the wedding. They were both fast asleep when we got back to the villa LOL.
We didn't do a great deal this trip as we were only there for 6 days and the wedding arrangements took up most of the time. We did get to relax though and managed a bit of a tan. Had a good night at the beach bars opposite Jayakarta watching the sunset. Always good fun, getting hassled by the beach sellers, having a few bintangs and a sing along with Buddhi the guitar man. Bought a lovely pearl and silver ring from Tiger, I always have a look at his jewellry and am always impressed by his range.
I can't think of anything else at the moment but will probably remember more as soon as I post this LOL. We are hoping to go back for New Years Eve, just waiting for the AirAsia sale on Monday.
