Sometimes forumites ask where can I go for a day out.
Had a day out, went to Penglipuran and Tampak Siring. Penglipuran is unique, it is an old village without traffic; on the side of a hill, you couldn't get a car in if you wanted to. The family compounds are on either side of the central thoroughfare and there are a couple that are open to walk through. The temple is at the top of the hill
( not a difficult walk ) and if I remember correctly is 400 years old, it's all very picturesque and quite delightful. Worth a visit.
Tampak Siring, this is truly a ripper, peaceful and tranquil a place of holy water springs where Balinese families go to take the water and bathe. There are several priests there who pray with the families after the bathing ceremony. If you do go keep your shoulders and knees covered just to show respect. There's a warong there and the tucker is excellent.
Had a ride on the Sarbegita bus. They run 12 seater pick up buses which drop you at the bus shelters for the 50 sesater. There are two pick up buses that run down Jl Pratama in TB within five minutes of each other, one for the brown bus and one for the blue bus. I saw the pick up bus coming, put my hand out for him to stop and he was slowing to pick me up when a multitude of cab drivers abused the hell out of him and waved him on, he kept going. The cab drivers are screaming at me " Not for tourists." There were not happy campers. I walked down the road to the next hotel, hailed the second bus and get on. Fortunately for me there was an empty seat behind the driver and joy of joys there was a sliding window. As we passed the cab drivers I gave out a mighty " Oi " which well caught their attention and gave them a dignified royal wave from the wrist and a lovely smile. Caught the big bus at the shelter, bit strange actually as you get in through a hole a metre high off the ground in the middle of the bus. The shelter floors are level with the hole, according to the driver they are designed so that they can only pick up at the shelters and not on the street. Didn't go far, just wanted to see what it was all about, went down the By Pass to the new Benoa Square shopping Centre
which is a nothing.
Made a blue yesterday in JBR4, you can't just rock up at Kintamani for a bike ride or a canoe paddle, book first www.c-bali.com
I'm just about JBR'd out, won't bother you again for another year. Now that the dust is settled and herself is laughing at the locking out locking in bit the word is that Miss Japan is versatile, is a yoga follower and should be congratulated for her lotus posture.
