Flew Garuda on the 10th of June for our son's wedding, which was on the 16th. Stayed at KP and recommended it to family and friends, all who stayed there, thought it was perfect. This was our 5th holiday in Bali but the first time for most of the guests.
When the happy couple first decided on holding the wedding in Bali we thought it would be a very small wedding but the guest list kept on growing as most people kept saying 'Bali, yes we'll come!'
A total of 65 people attended the wedding at Villa Sanctus at Uluwatu . The villa was booked June last year when it was called Casa Sol Y Mar. Since then it has had a major makeover of the grounds and now looks even more stunning. The grounds are huge and it is a perfect wedding venue! The ceremony was held in front of the infinity pool at the edge of the cliff and it looked as though the bride and groom were standing at the edge of the world, as they were standing on a platform over the pool. I can not do justice describing how beautiful it all looked but most guests thought it looked like a film set and no one could believe just how spectacular it was.
Because every one had made a big effort to get there and the cocktails were flowing freely, the night became a huge party. Even Katrina and her assistant from Bali Weddings International were partying and dancing up a storm.
It was simply the most beautiful and most fun wedding I have ever been to!
The guests were bussed in and out so it was hassle free. Only the minister got lost on the way there causing a minor delay!
The food was great and the speeches were kept short. Some of the guests just had to jump in the pools but no one minded as the atmosphere was just so relaxed.
The beautiful bride had done all the organising in the preceding months and everything went smoothly, having a wedding planner certainly meant a stress free event. The night before the wedding the bride, bridesmaids and mums, were at the villa relaxing with massages and Moët champagne. It was an experience I will never forget!
To any one considering a destination wedding, we can certainly recommend it. We also found that the time spent getting to know all the guests at KP before and after the wedding meant that many strong and unexpected friendships were made.
Other than the wedding, there was a LOT of partying and sight seeing. Most of the boys went white water rafting, while the girls went to High Tea at Biku. A group of us went to the dolphins at Serangan, we had tried to book this earlier via email but were told it was full. The first tourist booth we went to was able to get us in straight away as long as we were flexible with the date. So any one wanting to book you can do it over there. It was a great experience that we all really enjoyed.
Lots of our group did a bike ride, visited Ubud, snorkeling and other tours.
I did the usual shopping. Tommy's for several handbags and a gorgeous overnight bag. Geneva for placemats and other homewards, and lots of silver jewelry shopping at Solomon's Silver and N Silver which both near KP. The newbies all loved the shopping and had very full bags on the way home!
The only bad part of the holiday was coming home. Back to the cold weather and the reality of work!! Oh well we have fabulous memories and beautiful photos, and we are saving for the next holiday.....
