You can buy re-charge cards anywhere in Bali, street stalls etc. The general amount is 50,000rp or multiples. You recharge similar to at home. Scratch the card to reveal a series of numbers. Follow the instructions on the re-charge card and it is topped up.
I gave my phone and card to a balanese friend and she done it for me in about a minute. For a little extra the person you purchase the re-charge from will do it for you. They have to make money to live.
If back in Australia you can re-charge through a website in France. I have topped up my two cards from Australia with no problems.
