You can actually go through and accompany him right up to the departure tax counter, my daughter was leaving before me and was scared to go through on her own. The guys at the door wouldn't let me through without a ticket, they told me I had to pay them all RP100,000 if I wanted to walk through with her (I had explained that she was unsure what to do/where to go but they still demanded baksheesh to go through) if you look to the left of where they are standing you will see a little office window, I went up there and asked about going through and they said I could get a pass, I got one-from memory it was about RP30,000 and I just showed it to the guys at the door. I have done this again when my hubby was leaving before me last year, so unless the situation has changed since then that's how you get past that one!
