SANUR - stayed at Segara Village. Very nice hotel, our rooms looked out onto garden and temple, very peaceful. There were 5 of us - three teenage boys - they don't have interconnecting rooms. A Leage of Nations staying there - Germans, Russians, Danish, Norwegians staying there but that was okay - were friendly in their own special way. Very very quiet in Sanur itself and on the beach. Alot of the ladies at The Sanur Beach Markets didn't see too many customers just looking not buying. When I go back to Sanur would definitely look at staying there again. Inna Grand Bali looked very tired.
Was nice to get up early and see the sun rise - lots of people out there with their cameras! (I live on the west coast of Oz).
Had dinner on the beach front - Luhuto's Cafe (good coffee), Beno's Cafe, Toot sies - all were very nice.
On Jl Tamblingan - we went to two restaurants - Mona Lisas (menu not extensive but the food was very good) and then the next night opposite Mona Lisas we went The Village Cucina - both very nice, Village Cucina a bit more expensive but their food was really good.
Went to Hardy's Supermarket third floor to get SIM cards, 5,000Rp for card and then 50,000Rp for calls - no hassle and told us what code to use when calling back home.
Did a cycling tour with Bali Hai Cycling - great experience. Can now tick it off my bucket list. When the ride finished we went to a restaurant overlooking the rice paddies - such a delight.
Watch out when you go near the Sanur Beach Market Stalls - the ladies are like pirahanas - business is so quiet they just about knock you over trying to get you to visit their shops.
LEGIAN - stayed at Puri Raja on Padma Utara - really nice and quiet hotel have stayed there before, if you ever go there make sure you ask for ground floor rooms!
Eating - Italian Restaurante outside the Kumala Pantai - really nice food.
Mozarella by the Sea - outside Niksoma Hotel - this is the best and if you go there in a large group maybe book as it is always busy there.
Went to Jimbaran Bay - really expensive, wouldn't bother going there again - have done it, can now tick it off the list.
Tamin Sari on Poppies II - really well priced and the Coriander Chicken yummy. For a family of four and we don't scrimp - milkshakes, cocktails, bintangs, main meal and desert and then milkshakes again for the kids cost us about $50 - 60.
Also across the road from Tamin Sari - JALON shop sells Vans - the guys do a really good price.
TJ's (mexican) on Poppies I - was really really good mexican.
We usually go to Poco Loco but has sort of closed down or become a DJ/music venue.
Also went to Sammy's Restaurant (beach side) on Padma Utara just around the corner going North from Puri Raja - they do the best hamburgers and french fries and have the coldest bintang - if you go there say hello to Lelly (Lilli) she was the girl that served us and was such a delight to talk you.
SHOPPING
Leather Bag buying - what else is there for the girls! - bought from Tommy's on JL Padma - really nice bag only $70.00. If you want anything made it takes about 4 - 5 days so you need to go there when you first arrive. Also bought a bag from Mira Leather which is on Padma Ultara just past Poco Loco restaurant, got a really lovely crossbody brown leather bag from them for about $48.
Discovery Mall - underground the real bargains - there is Marks & Spencer, Next and Pandora and Lovekin. I am not really into Pandora but I think maybe about $20 - $30 cheaper than Oz.
I think that's about it, have been home only a few days and am dying for a Bintang (and I don't normally drink beer !). Happy holidays to all. Have to save my pennies now for the next trip ..... :-)
