it all starts with mild forgetfulness.

It is difficult to research properly as foreign land purchases less than $231m flies under the FIRB radar. Let me remind you that my OP was about selling our farming land to other countries, of which I mentioned zip about who owns current land that is being mined.

I did agree with anjules post as my clear and perfect memory served me well remembering that I had read, something about China purchasing Oz land for future mining of coal, in the past. A quick google found the following from an article in the Australian "The world's biggest coal miner, Chinese government-controlled Shenhua Watermark Coal, has been paying a reputed 10 times the going rate for farms near the NSW township of Gunnedah. It plans to mine for coal on them".

Also, "purchase of farmland in Western Victoria by a Qatar government-backed entity whose interest in these farms was clearly the coal that lies under them, not the farms themselves. I now wonder who owns WA mining lands.

A quarter of NT land is foreign owned.

Leave me mates down tha local out of this, their da "best" and together we manage to solve all the problems of the world, especially towards the end of the night wink wink.
