I used to live near Uluwatu and went quite often to the kecak dance there with friends when they would visit. I always enjoyed it as much as them, though yes you do need to get there well before sunset to get a good spot. Personally though I would not do the kecak dancing and dinner on Jimbaran beach in the same night as one of the best things about dinner in Jimbaran is being there to watch the sunset, which you have already missed if you have been to the dancing. If you can I would do the tow on separate nights. For good restaurants that dont over charge on Jimbaran go to the southern end of the beach (the four seasons end) I dont eat sea food but a chicken dinner there costs less than Kuta and when we had friends that wanted seafood it was not too expensive.
