It's a good time to head to the hills

The coastal tourist strip is just chockers with Indonesian tourists at the end of Ramadan. The rich ones send their cars & drivers over on the ferry then fly in with their families. They just love cruising around looking. The poorer ones get around in the brightly coloured open-sided buses. Means BIG traffic jams all the time but esp in the evenings. Traffic around Kuta is horrendous all the time lately but far worse (if you can imagine it) at the end of Ramadan.

So, it's a very good time to see other parts of Bali, to head to quieter environs. Munduk is my favourite place in the hills. Getting there is a lovely trip & it's well worth staying a night or 2 esp if you like walks. You could go on to Lovina or to Amed or Candi Dasa etc etc. LOTS of lovely options avoiding the crowds & maybe you'd see parts of Bali you'd otherwise have missed.

The Indonesian tousists mainly stay around Kuta/Denpasar.
