to bali, they all got hep a vaccs and flu shots, in 2009 our first trip, my son was about 18 months and he got sick. not from food, but one of the travellers with us took him to pat dogs at their hotel (a big no no), and that same day, my hubby was watching him while i did market shopping with the ladies, and my son was eating beach sand (good one hubby!) that night he was vomiting, cut a long story short, he was in hospital for most of our trip and was still vomiting when we got home. he got a big in him (no-one could name it for us!)
but that didnt put us off going back. we just needed to watch him more carefully. and we went back in feb this year and had the time of our lives. no-one got sick or bali belly. i did take raspberry juice (cascade brand) some days we forgot to take it.
Basically we eat at restaurants, such as hotel restuarants, pizza huts etc, we have never eaten from a street vendor. there are heaps of kid friendly menus - nuggets and chips, pizza and chips etc similar to here in oz. my kids have never felt sick from food over there.
Basically try not to stress, you have to enjoy yourself, just protect yourselves as best you can ie. dont eat off street vendors and dont eat anythign your not sure of and you will be ok. and make sure you take sufficient mosquito repellent too and have yourselves a fantastic holiday. :)
