Balinese have 'real names', just like other 'real people'. Traditionally it was considered bad form to address someone by their name. Also, which caste one belongs to will determine which 'public name' one has. Wayan, Made, Nyoman, etc, is basically for lower caste people. The 3 upper castes will use different appellations, sometimes followed by a birth-order name, sometimes not.
