We got up early to check out of our hotel. Our friend who runs Bali Jet Set dive and marine sent over a driver to bring us to her new location at Tanjung benoa. Once we got there I was amazed at how great the place looked especially since the last time I was in Bali it was still getting built. The facilities are amazing! It really is a 5 star water sports venue, the bathrooms where 10x better than the ones at Satryia!!
To wake my friend up from her hangover I dragged her onto the flying fish. That did the trick! With the adrenaline pumping again we planned to go on the banana, the donut and do some stand up paddle boarding, but after a round on the banana, the eternal wedgy I got and the amount of times we fell off and smashed myself, I was done. Note to self.. get back to the gym! My pewny girl arms could not bear the wrath of the banana. With my legs and ego bruised we hung out by the pool. Rhonda had arranged for all her dogs to be dropped off to the park. It was great seeing them all again. They are the funniest characters. She has 5 golden retrievers and has rescued loads of Bali dogs. One of her new additions, 'Squeek' was on deaths door when he was rescued. He was covered in mange and underweight. Rhonda brought him back to good health and now he is the cutest puppy ever. He looks like a black lab. Loves to chase the ball and run. We tried out the new restaurant that they have at the venue now and it was delish!! I had the nasi goreng which was complete with a side salad in a hollowed coconut. Enak sekali!!
The day started to end and we were due to fly out that night... or so we thought! After a double take on our itinerary we realized that we still had a whole day!! Every time I have been to Bali I have always taken the red eye home, the 12.10am flight, so I just assumed we would be doing the same this time around. So when the itinerary said Thursday I though 'well technically its Wednesday' but after realizing that because the flight was at 10pm.. it was indeed Thursday. Rhonda graciously offered us a bed, after realizing that we had check out of our hotel a day early! We freshened up and then headed to Fukutaro Japanese restaurant for a scrummy dinner although, my friend was slightly traumatized when they brought out the sashimi plate, and noticed the lobster was still twitching.
After an amazing feed it was time to hit the local Kareoke bar to get my sing on!! It would have been great too if I could have picked the right song! Going through the list I saw '500 miles'. Thinking to myself, 'hey I can sing this, I can even put on a silly Scottish accent, this should be fun!.. SHA LA LA LA!!!'
I gave my request to our host. It was my turn now, and my dear friend Nyoman gave me a huge introduction and passed the mic to me... But wait, this isn't the song?! I froze. Nyoman called the host over and they pointed to the right song. Round two. I was introduced again and he passed over the mic. But wait....this isn't my song!! A country melody played.. This isn't the song I thought it was?! In a panic fit of giggles we realised that it was not the Proclamers '500 miles'.. But Bobby Mares '500 miles'. Thank goodness Rhonda saved the day and took over the reins. After the initial embarrassment, the last song of the night was Kingston town, UB40. THAT I can sing!!!...
NOW it was our last day. We headed back into Kuta in the morning. Did the last of the shopping and finally ballsed up to try the fish spa. What a bizarre feeling! Especially when they get in between your toes!! As we collected our luggage and headed off to the airport we started to feel said, reminiscing of our amazing trip, the amazing people we met, and remembering how the guys at Franks bar sang us John Denvor's Jet plane song as we left. We looked at each other, a tear in our eyes, and promised we would come back soon! Another terrible flight home and within 10hrs I was home again, sobbing as I smoked my last Samporea Flava cigarette and humming... 'jiggy jig massage.. jiggy jig massaahhh wah ha haaa..'
The next day, I caught up with my partner and told him all about our adventures. I usually go every year with him, and he was gutted he wasn't there, especially cause every trip we have been on we have never run amuck like that before. He got insanely jealous and sad that he hadn't got his Bali fix this year soooooo... He booked us a ticket. Looks like I will be back next week!!! BAAAGGUUUSSSS!!!
