and I have rats, found a dead one at the foot of the bed only 2 days ago, presume one of the dogs or cats left it there as a pressie.
I do not leave dishes around my house and we still have them, I presume without the animals we would have a lot more. We don't even have a kitchen so food stuff is not the reason they like to visit, they come up through all the drains and over the neighbours fence.
A Balinese friend has a restaurant and one night we were there a rat fell on someones plate next to us and I suggested she let our dogs stay the night (great raters), she said that she had to have a ceremony first to ask the rats to leave. Balinese do not see rats as a problem so they aren't as quick to want to remove them. Creatures that live in the rice fields are sacred so they just don't see what all the fuss is about when a Westerner wants them removed, so even if I didn't want to live with them I would have to ask all my neigbours to get rid of them as well. We have cockroaches, frogs and snakes, lizards as well, our house is very clean, so clean in fact I don't have staff to clean it as I would probably follow them around cleaning again after they finished. I don't have boogers, thank god, but that's probably because hubby is house-trained, but we do have lizard poo, but those little cuties keep the mozzies down. We do have termites, but that's the area we live in, makes it fun when you open a window and the frame falls out, it's all part of living in Bali, if we didn't like it we wouldn't live here. My mother lives in Queensland and she has all the same creepy crawlies and problems due to weather etc to deal with, its the tropics. We had mushrooms growing out of our wall once.
I once went to Kudata and a rat was happily sitting under our table, and believe me we paid a lot to eat there.
My reason for responding to you was not due to KTH but you asked would someone clarify who the woman was that you have been going on about and I knew who it may have been, not by reputation but by knowing the Restaurant owner, I have never met his wife. Some of the posts coming from your name have been quite ridiculous, like don't drink the water, who drinks water from a tap in Bali? Putting the toilet paper on the holder the wrong way, come on you are just sounding ridiculous.
It's great that you advise people of problems at a place so they can make their own decisions but your insult of people was not necessary and some of the comments were just silly or pedantic. I agree with you that leaving plates around is a problem but you'll still have the creepy crawlies where-ever you go. The offerings attract them as well so you cannot have no rats/roaches in Bali, they will find you.
I personally would not stay at KTH, but not based on your comments, I cannot stand AFL football and people screaming at a TV which is what I see whenever I visit.
