OK I put my hand up. The owner of SBVs is quite definitely a friend of mine, of course he obviously isn't fussy who he is friends with otherwise how could this be so? I also am friendly with the owners/operators of the Ugly Duckling but I don't suppose they're too picky either.
However I do not recommend their places because they are known to me. I did not know them before I stayed there. It was by staying there that I got to know them.
SVVs if just perfect for Brian and I and I like the vibe in South Sanur far from the "madding crowd". (as Thomas Hardy said) Last week I stayed at the Ugly Duckling because I had 2 teenage granddaughters with me and felt the more central location would give them a little more autonomy. No 2 granddaughter has stayed with her family at KP, Jayakarta, Adhi Dharma, Bali Rani, Mercure Sanur (when it was still the Raddin) and Gazebo. She fell in love with the Ugly Duckling and declared it her favourite.
