If possible I always book with Booking.Com

They are ONLY a booking agency so you do not have to pay until you arrive or depart your hotel, and they have a great cancellation policy.

I have just booked 7 hotels for 6 couples through out Asia with Booking.Com and pay when we arrive.

If I notify them 4 days prior to my arrival that I cannot make it NO CHARGE, but if notification is after 4 days arrival then I lose 1 nights accom.
In some cases no show you have to pay full rate for time booked.
