I think the elephants at the Safari Park are a lot better off than the dwindling numbers being poached out of existance in Sumatra for one.
It is silly to compare trapping and killing an animal, to take its tusks and cut off its feet to make a coffee table, to using the animal to engender support for a cause and showing elephants together in a huge glass sided pool obviously enjoying what they are doing (You won't have seen this).
It's a pity that Tasmanian Tigers were not protected in the same way.
The facilities at the Safari Park are among the best that I have seen in terms of animal welfare, supported well by the Australian large mamal specialist employed on site to ensure that this is the case.
You obviously don't agree with the concept presented at the Safari Park, and subsequently will not go there to support the concept.
I and many others will.
