We attended a timeshare presentation at The Peninsula a few years ago. Yes, it was a huge pain with a hard sell (I wonder why T-S salesmen all seem to be English?) Resisted, easliy, and got a voucher for 2 weeks, to be used within a year. Used one week at Bali ShangriLa in Candi Dasa & had to pay US$5/night. Booking fee of $50 so $85 for the week. No sales talk.
Used the second week at Jimbaran Hills Resort (don't know if it still exists - looked like a failed concern a few years ago). Pleasant enough & for $85 for the week very good value. Heavy sales pitch at JHR.
If you have a spare 90 mins (the presentation time)then you might consider that a reasonable investment for a week at a 3* resort for $5/night (not per person). They provide a car, lunch etc.
I wouldn't bother again but I have no regrets. We stayed at places we wouldn't have otherwise considered although I would never again consider staying for a week at Candi Dasa or Jimbaran Hills.
The scratchies handed out by the time share touts are, I understand, for a presentation at an office in Kartika Plaza & if you sit through it you get a T-Shirt.
I answered a survey one night in Kuta - someone saying she was asking about my experience as a tourist. Then the phone started ringing.
